Shamanism is the oldest spiritual and healing practice on the planet dating back tens of thousands of years. It is not a religion - it is a philosophy which suggests that we - alongside all other living things - are dynamically interconnected and interdependent, forming a universal "web of life". In Shamanism, everything has a material, energetic and spiritual identity, with all three co-existing. Shamans perceive this web and work with these three different aspects of existence, sometimes together and sometimes separately, in order to promote and maintain health, balance and harmony in people and in the wider natural world. Shamanism can empower us all to live with intention, to have a clearer vision and sense of purpose, and to live in a conscious way.
What I do as a shamanic practitioner is to combine my knowledge and experience of shamanism and indigenous wisdom, with my other training and healthcare experience to help you with your health and wellbeing. I offer Shamanic Counselling and Shamanic Healing. You do not need any prior experience to benefit from these, nor do you have to understand or believe in them - you just need an open mind and an active imagination, and many people enjoy working in this way.
Shamanic Counselling (SC) enables you to step out of your day to day awareness and access a more universal perspective, in order to gain answers to some of the questions or issues you are struggling with in your life. You would do this through a process called Journeying. This involves the exploration of a specific question, which I would help you to clarify, through the use of repetitive sounds - often from a drum and / or a rattle - and some simple visualisation techniques. Shamanic Counselling can help you with health issues, self-development, and in your relationships. Learning to journey is a great skill to aquire, and can greatly enhance your life. After only a few sessions you should be able to journey yourself at home or in nature, with some coaching from me. Shamanic Counselling sessions typically last 1.5-2 hours.
Shamanic Healing involves a variety of hands on healing skills and shamanic techniques to help bring your physical, energetic and spiritual self together into greater harmony and balance. Shamanic Healing can be a powerful approach to explore and address the underlying causes of your suffering, rather than just addressing your symptoms. The underlying causes of our dis-eases are often unconsidered in Western medicine, and many people benefit hugely from a more holistic approach. After an inital free consultation, I will suggest a shamanic healing programme for you. People typically benefit from 3 or 4 sessions, which we would work together to agree. Often you will lie fully clothed on a comfortable massage table for this work, but we may also work out in nature. Shamanic Healing sessions typically last 1-2 hours.
